FROM THE PRESIDENT

President

As President of American International University School of Medicine (AIU School of Medicine), I understand that choosing a university and a degree program is one of the most important decisions you will ever make in your life, and I hope you will consider American International University School of Medicine when doing so.

AIU School of Medicine was founded with a vision to provide a well rounded education to prepare students to excel in the medical field.  Located in the beautiful country of Guinea in Western Africa, AIU School of Medicine fosters innovation, professional excellence, and service.  In addition to the basic education in the classroom setting, students will have the opportunity to learn through interacting with various hospital departments and patients.  Further, AIU School of Medicine is committed to creating a diverse student body to create an international camaraderie among students.  The academic, social, and professional advancement of our students is among AIU School of Medicine’s primary goals.

AIU School of Medicine is based within International Medical Center (Centre Medical International – C.M.I.), a level 2 hospital located in Gbessia Conakry, Guinea.  Built to American standards, the Hospital was inaugurated on 16th November 1998 by His Excellency Lansana Conte, The President of Republic of Guinea. Since its inception, CMI has provided the highest medical care to over 50000 patients. A Protocol signed with the Government of Guinea in 1998 resulted in the formation of American International University School of Medicine.

AIU School of Medicine offers a 5 year medical program leading to Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) Degree to students who have successfully completed High School Baccalaureate or A Levels. The program consists of 16 months of Pre Medical Studies followed by 20 months of Basic Sciences taught at the Conakry, Guinea campus. Twenty-four months Clinical Medicine Training is offered at high quality teaching hospitals in United States and other countries.

AIU School of Medicine is the first medical school in Africa offering a curriculum patterned after the US medical program and is designed to meet the licensing requirements in the United States of America and other countries. Only a limited number of students shall be admitted every trimester to ensure a small student/faculty ratio and to allow for maximum interaction with students.  Although the official language of Guinea is French, all classes at AIU School of Medicine are taught in English.  Further, all faculty members hold M.D. or Ph.D. Degrees with teaching experience.

In addition to a fervent dedication to the medical field, AIU School of Medicine is seeking students who are eager to learn, committed to service, and interested in studying with an international perspective.  I hope you will find AIU School of Medicine an appropriate fit with your future academic and career goals.
